[ad_1]

Happy Thursday, East Hampton! Let me, Diane Witek, get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today’s weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 55, low: 48.

Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. The Dan’s Papers Home & Garden Show is this weekend, April 23–24, on the Stony Brook University Southampton campus. There will be more than 100 vendors and exhibitors inside, outside, there will be outdoor activities, as well as some food trucks offering an array of food and refreshing treats! (Dan’s Papers)

  2. Wednesday, officials announced the temporary closure of the East Hampton Town Senior Center. The closure was a result of several cases of COVID-19 among attendees and staff. The facility is expected to reopen on May 2 following a deep cleaning, town officials said. (East Hampton Patch)

  3. Astro’s Pizza, located at 237 Main St. in Amagansett, has a new owner for this season. Chef PJ Calapa, the new owner from New York City, plans to open on Memorial Day weekend. Guests can expect to see his take on traditional Italian dishes and pizza classics, complete with a full bar and family style meals to go, a release said. The restaurant will be open year-round. (East Hampton Patch)

  4. First ‘historic’ opioid settlements were distributed to Long Island. Today’s payments, totaling $46.9 million, are the first of many to Long Island to combat the opioid crisis. Long Island is expected to receive up to $228 million over the next few years as part of the settlements, announced New York State Attorney General Letitia James. (East Hampton Patch)
