Artistic Living Spaces for Creative People

Creative people are creative all of the time, even if that’s just in their own head space. What then, would a creative person imagine for their ideal living space one might ask? Well, these four special home tours take us on a little trip around the minds of some super creative individuals, giving us a peek into extraordinary interior design concepts that range from modernly homey with eye catching artistic touches, to a full blown gallery feel with only a few bits of home. These places feature not just works of modern art, but striking sculptural furniture pieces with a truly customised feel and some spectacularly unique lighting designs.

A channel tufted sofa makes a creative focal point in our first artistic living space, where soft white and muted red decor make rich contrast. A glass coffee table is held up on sculptural forms. Three-dimensional abstract shapes decorate its top.

The shapely dining pendant light looks like a ceramic art piece suspended above the eating area. The outline of the unique dining chairs flips the silhouette of the pendant on its head.

The white pedestal dining table cuts cleanly in front of a row of red kitchen base units and a floor of red tinted marble.

A ring shaped decorative vase makes a unique dining table centrepiece, which also complements the table’s circular form.

The desk seems to balance on a single stack of spheres at one end. The blush designer table lamp that elegantly echoes the spherical aesthetic is the Elmetto by Martinelli Luce.

The master bedroom features a warm wooden feature wall behind a houndstooth bedstead and black tufted headboard. An Artemide Nessino table lamp caps a sculptural bedside table design.

The red marble floor treatment we saw used in the kitchen diner comes around again in the bathroom, and is this time extended to the walls too. A quirky bathtub stands on chunky spherical claws.

Red marble swirls along the vanity area, where it’s complemented by rich wood panelling over the adjoined concealed cistern wall. Matt black bathroom accessories give the timeless materials a contemporary touch.

Our next interior is an artistically decorated summer house, with another distinctive sofa design.

The sofa’s blue-grey throw pillows tie in perfectly with two modern accent chairs placed either side of it. An upholstered bench places a fourth aspect in the conversational seating arrangement.

A red wire mesh coffee table puts a pop of hot colour between the cool grey tufted sofa and bench seat.

Large format artworks vibrantly colour the pale smoky grey walls of the room.

Modern dining chairs pull the red accent to the back of the living room. A textured area rug throws down geometric pattern.

Herringbone wood flooring spans the entire space.

A sculptural dining pendant light vibes with the wall art, as though part of the same artistic installation.

Espresso marble tops a luxe slatted sideboard design. An exhibition of decorative vases are displayed about the stylish dining furniture and a set of slender wooden plinths.

Located in Kiev, Ukraine, this design concept is based on austerity and minimalism. The same fabric has been used to cover two couches and the neighbouring dining chairs, creating a bold saturation of pattern.

Unconventional artwork looks out from the blank white walls of the living room, beside a modern bar cart with red accent wheels.

An artistic transition space is given a fully fledged art installation, with a sculptural chair and creative floor treatment that interacts with modern artwork.

A teal version of the geometric fabric has been employed on the custom headboard of a platform bed. The common pattern creates cohesivity with the living room, whilst the cooler colourway sets off a whole different vibe.

Matching upholstery covers a laid back yet luxurious gold frame lounge chair.

An indoor plant inhabits the bedside, next to a sleek teal wardrobe with metallic trims.

A second bedroom is home to a double workspace with geometric patterned desk chairs.

Two-tone chevron flooring makes an offbeat accent, and creates angles that complement the unique desk chair covering.

Blue marble subtly tints the bathroom scheme under stark black fixtures. An intriguing ceramic piece customises the marble vanity.

Our last tour is a Mondrianesque living space, bedecked with primary colours and strong black anchors.

A vaulted ceiling of enormous arches sweep over the space.

A round coffee table lies flatly in the tall room, further exaggerating the gigantic proportions of a sculptural installation of stacked blue volumes.

The modular leather sofa branches off in all directions to allow the owne
r a constantly changing view.

Unique pendant lights fall from the high ceiling like giant origami drops.

Amongst the modernity, a Venus de Milo statue reproduction harks back to a more ancient art form.

Blank canvases beat a visual percussion along the length of the room.

Monochrome art toys with the notion of negative space.
